Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (sourdough or ciabatta recommended)
- 3–4 oz sliced turkey breast
- 2 slices of cheese (such as Swiss or cheddar)
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- Prepare the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. This will help create a golden, crispy crust when grilled.
- Assemble the Panini: Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Layer the turkey slices evenly over the bread, then add the cheese slices on top. Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Grill the Panini: Preheat a panini press or a skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, place a heavy pan or weight on top of the sandwich for pressing. Grill the sandwich for about 3-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese has melted.
- Serve: Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice in half and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute turkey with chicken or ham according to preference.
- Try different cheeses like mozzarella or provolone for varied flavors.
- For extra flavor, add mustard, mayonnaise, or fresh vegetables like tomato or spinach.
- If you don’t have a panini press, a heavy skillet or grill press works well to achieve the crispy texture.
