Ingredients

Scale

Seeds and Vermicelli

  • 2 tbsp basil seeds
  • 23 tbsp vermicelli
  • Hot water (for soaking)

Milkshake

  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp rose syrup (Kai Lin brand recommended)

Garnish

  • Pistachio seeds
  • Edible rose petals
  • Optional: Ice cream

Instructions

  1. Soak Basil Seeds: Add enough hot water to cover 2 tbsp of basil seeds and leave them to soak for 20 minutes. After soaking, the basil seeds will become gelatinous and thick in texture.
  2. Soak Vermicelli: Pour hot water over 2-3 tbsp of vermicelli and let it soak for 4 minutes. Once softened, drain the water completely.
  3. Prepare Flavored Milk: In a thick-bottomed pan, combine 500 ml whole milk, 3 tbsp sugar, and 3 tbsp rose syrup. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring to dissolve the sugar completely. Then remove from heat and set aside to cool down.
  4. Assemble the Drink: In a large glass, add 2 tbsp of the soaked basil seeds followed by 2-3 tbsp soaked vermicelli. Pour the cooled rose-flavored milk over the seeds and vermicelli to fill the glass.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Top the milkshake with a sprinkle of pistachio seeds and edible rose petals. Optionally, add a scoop of ice cream on top for extra creaminess and indulgence. Serve chilled for the best experience.

Notes

  • Soaking the basil seeds properly is essential to get the right jelly-like texture.
  • Using rose syrup brands like Kai Lin ensures an authentic floral flavor.
  • Whole milk provides the creamiest texture, but you can substitute with reduced-fat milk if preferred.
  • Adding ice cream is optional but enhances the milkshake’s richness and coolness.
  • Ensure the milk is cooled adequately before assembling to avoid melting any added ice cream.
  • You can refrigerate the assembled drink briefly if you prefer it colder before serving.
