Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Marinade

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cubed
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons water

Pasta and Garnish

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • Salt for boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Sesame seeds, toasted
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped
  • Extra red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and toss it with butter to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  2. Prepare the Steak: Pat the cubed sirloin steak dry with paper towels. Season evenly with salt, black pepper, and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. If using, sprinkle cornstarch over the steak and toss to coat. This helps thicken the sauce later.
  3. Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a large pan or skillet over high heat. Add the steak cubes in a single layer and sear until browned on all sides and cooked to your preferred doneness, about 3-5 minutes. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  4. Make the Sauce: In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add 3 tablespoons soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, and water. Stir well and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Combine: Toss the buttered pasta into the sauce, using the reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce and coat the pasta evenly. Return the cooked steak to the pan and stir everything together to combine and heat through.
  6. Garnish: Sprinkle the dish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped fresh parsley or green onions. Add extra red pepper flakes if you desire more heat.
  7. Serve Immediately: Plate the sweet and spicy garlic steak pasta while hot and enjoy this flavorful, hearty meal.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, add the optional cornstarch to the steak before searing.
  • Adjust the sriracha and crushed red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
  • Use fresh parsley or green onions as a garnish to brighten the dish.
  • Toasting sesame seeds enhances their nutty flavor—toast them lightly in a dry pan over medium heat until golden.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
