Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Mixture

  • 12 sugar cookies
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)

Coating and Decoration

  • 12 ounces red candy melts
  • Sprinkles (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare cookie crumbs: Add the sugar cookies to a food processor and pulse until they are ground into fine crumbs.
  2. Combine with cream cheese: Add the room temperature cream cheese to the cookie crumbs and pulse until the mixture is uniformly combined into a dough-like consistency.
  3. Line cookie sheet: Place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet to prepare for shaping the truffles.
  4. Form truffles: Using a 1-inch cookie scoop, scoop the mixture and roll into 18 evenly-sized balls, placing them on the parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  5. Freeze truffles: Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up the truffles for easier coating.
  6. Melt candy melts: In a heatproof bowl set over a pot of boiling water, melt the red candy melts until smooth and fully melted.
  7. Coat truffles: Remove the truffles from the freezer and dip each one individually into the melted candy, allowing excess to drip off before placing back onto the parchment-lined sheet.
  8. Add sprinkles: Immediately after dipping, decorate each coated truffle with sprinkles to add a festive touch.
  9. Repeat coating: Continue dipping and decorating all truffles until complete.
  10. Chill coated truffles: Return the cookie sheet to the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to set the candy coating firmly.
  11. Store properly: Transfer the finished truffles into an airtight container and keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
  12. Serve: Before serving, let the truffles sit out for a few minutes to soften slightly for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing and smoother texture.
  • Use parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking during freezing and coating.
  • The candy melts can be replaced with any preferred color or flavor of candy coating to suit different occasions.
  • Store truffles in the refrigerator to maintain firmness but allow them to warm slightly before serving for best taste.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, you can crush the cookies in a sealed plastic bag with a rolling pin.
