Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine peanut butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and egg until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chunks evenly throughout the dough.
  2. Shape and Bake Cookies: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the cookies are lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a chewier cookie, slightly underbake by a minute or two.
  • Use natural peanut butter for a more intense peanut flavor, or creamy for a smoother texture.
  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent excessive spreading.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
