Ingredients

Scale

Strawberries

  • 12 medium to large strawberries

Filling

  • 12 oz whipped cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 1 tbsp graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 tbsp sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly. Using a sharp paring knife, slice each strawberry in half lengthwise, leaving the stems attached for presentation.
  2. Score Strawberries: With the same paring knife, lightly score a triangle shape in the center of each strawberry half to guide removing the flesh.
  3. Hollow Centers: Use a small spoon or melon baller to gently scoop out some of the strawberry flesh from the scored triangle, creating space for the filling.
  4. Drain Strawberries: Place the prepared strawberries cut side down on paper towels and let them drain for a couple of minutes to remove excess moisture.
  5. Arrange Strawberries: Place the drained, prepared strawberry halves on a deviled egg platter or serving dish with the cut side facing up.
  6. Make Filling: In a medium or large bowl, mix the whipped cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla extract until the mixture is very smooth and creamy. Transfer the filling into a piping bag fitted with a large tip or use a large ziplock bag with a corner snipped off.
  7. Fill Strawberries: Pipe the filling into the hollowed center of each strawberry half, filling generously for a decorative and tasty look.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle each filled strawberry with graham cracker crumbs and colorful sprinkles for texture and visual appeal. Serve immediately for best freshness and taste.

Notes

  • Use medium to large strawberries for easier filling and better presentation.
  • Make sure to drain the strawberries well to avoid watery filling.
  • The filling can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated, but fill strawberries just before serving to keep them fresh and maintain texture.
  • For a tangier twist, add a little fresh lemon juice to the filling mixture.
  • Sprinkles are optional and can be replaced with chopped nuts or shredded coconut for variation.
