Ingredients

Scale

Toast & Toppings

  • 23 slices of soft bread (depending on size and thickness)
  • Handful fresh raspberries
  • 10g Dark chocolate chips
  • Optional garnish: drizzle of maple syrup

Custard Mixture

  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 23 tsp maple syrup or honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat your air fryer or oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it’s ready for cooking the custard toast.
  2. Make Custard Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup until you have a smooth, liquid custard mixture.
  3. Create Indent in Bread: Using your fingers or the back of a spoon or fork, gently press into the center of each bread slice to form a shallow well or indent without cutting through the bread.
  4. Fill Bread With Custard: Spoon the prepared custard mixture into the well of each bread slice, then top with fresh raspberries and dark chocolate chips evenly on top.
  5. Cook in Air Fryer: Place the custard-filled bread slices in the air fryer basket and cook for 4-5 minutes, until the custard is set and beginning to caramelize at the edges.
  6. OR Bake in Oven: Alternatively, place the bread on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in the preheated oven for 8-12 minutes until the custard is set and lightly caramelized.
  7. Serve: Remove from air fryer or oven and optionally drizzle with extra maple syrup. Serve warm and enjoy your indulgent Custard Yogurt Toast!

Notes

  • You can substitute honey for maple syrup if preferred.
  • Use thick, soft bread slices to prevent sogginess and hold the custard well.
  • For best results, serve immediately while warm.
  • Adjust cooking times slightly depending on the thickness of your bread and your appliance.
  • This dish is best enjoyed fresh and not suitable for advanced meal prep.
