Toast & Toppings
- 2–3 slices of soft bread (depending on size and thickness)
- Handful fresh raspberries
- 10g Dark chocolate chips
- Optional garnish: drizzle of maple syrup
Custard Mixture
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp Greek yogurt
- 2–3 tsp maple syrup or honey
- Preheat: Preheat your air fryer or oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it’s ready for cooking the custard toast.
- Make Custard Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, Greek yogurt, and maple syrup until you have a smooth, liquid custard mixture.
- Create Indent in Bread: Using your fingers or the back of a spoon or fork, gently press into the center of each bread slice to form a shallow well or indent without cutting through the bread.
- Fill Bread With Custard: Spoon the prepared custard mixture into the well of each bread slice, then top with fresh raspberries and dark chocolate chips evenly on top.
- Cook in Air Fryer: Place the custard-filled bread slices in the air fryer basket and cook for 4-5 minutes, until the custard is set and beginning to caramelize at the edges.
- OR Bake in Oven: Alternatively, place the bread on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in the preheated oven for 8-12 minutes until the custard is set and lightly caramelized.
- Serve: Remove from air fryer or oven and optionally drizzle with extra maple syrup. Serve warm and enjoy your indulgent Custard Yogurt Toast!
Notes
- You can substitute honey for maple syrup if preferred.
- Use thick, soft bread slices to prevent sogginess and hold the custard well.
- For best results, serve immediately while warm.
- Adjust cooking times slightly depending on the thickness of your bread and your appliance.
- This dish is best enjoyed fresh and not suitable for advanced meal prep.
