Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup Christmas sprinkles (jimmies or nonpareils)

Instructions

  1. Mix Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and sugar until well combined. In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined to form a thick batter.
  2. Fold in Sprinkles: Gently fold the Christmas sprinkles into the batter, taking care not to overmix to prevent the colors from bleeding. The sprinkles will add a festive pop of color throughout the bread.
  3. Bake Until Set: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan and spread evenly. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for the best texture.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
  • You can substitute plain yogurt for buttermilk in a pinch.
  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Sprinkles may bleed color slightly during baking; use high-quality sprinkles to minimize this.
