Ingredients

Scale

Crust Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

Topping Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, and brown sugar until the mixture is crumbly and can be pressed evenly into the bottom of a greased 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. Bake the crust: Place the crust in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until it’s lightly golden and set.
  3. Add caramel and coconut topping: Remove the crust from the oven and evenly spread the caramel sauce over the warm crust. Then sprinkle the shredded coconut on top, distributing it evenly.
  4. Bake again until golden: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the coconut turns golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
  5. Cool and serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares to serve.

Notes

  • Use good quality caramel sauce or homemade for best flavor.
  • To prevent the edges from burning, check the bars closely during the final bake.
  • For a nutty twist, consider sprinkling chopped pecans or walnuts on top with the coconut.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
