Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box brownie mix (approximately 1820 oz)
  • Ingredients required for brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, water as per package instructions)

Cheesecake Layer

  • 16 oz (450g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup (135g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream or heavy cream

Topping

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) caramel sauce, store-bought or homemade

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownie Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, usually combining the mix with eggs, oil, and water. Pour the batter evenly into a greased 9-inch springform pan or baking dish. Bake for about 20 minutes or until it is just set but not fully baked, as it will continue baking under the cheesecake layer.
  2. Make the Cheesecake Layer: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the sugar and continue to beat until well combined. Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and sour cream or heavy cream, until the batter is smooth and homogenous.
  3. Assemble and Bake: Pour the cheesecake mixture gently over the partially baked brownie base, spreading it evenly. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 35 to 40 minutes, or until the cheesecake layer is set around the edges but slightly jiggly in the center.
  4. Cool and Add Topping: Remove from the oven and let the layered dessert cool completely at room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow it to set fully.
  5. Drizzle Caramel Sauce: Before serving, drizzle the caramel sauce generously over the top of the chilled brownie cheesecake. Slice and serve chilled for the best texture and flavor experience.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the cheesecake batter.
  • Use a springform pan for easy removal of the layered cheesecake brownie.
  • Cooling completely before refrigerating helps prevent cracking on top.
  • For a more intense caramel flavor, warm the caramel sauce slightly before drizzling.
  • You can add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the brownie batter for added texture.
