Blueberry Jam
- 3/4 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Danish Filling and Pastry
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry dough
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 & 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
- 1/3 cup blueberry jam (prepared)
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
- Make the Blueberry Jam: Place the blueberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens into a jam consistency. Set aside to cool.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: While the jam is cooking, thaw the puff pastry sheet until cold but not frozen. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Roll and Cut Pastry: On a floured surface, roll the puff pastry into a 9 by 9 inch square. Cut into a 3 by 3 grid to make 9 equal squares. Using a sharp knife, score a smaller square about 1/4 inch from the edge of each square without cutting all the way through. Poke the center of each square with a fork to prevent puffing in that area. Set aside.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar until smooth.
