Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (about 8 biscuits)

Sausage

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage

Gravy

  • 2 cups sausage gravy (prepared or homemade)

Eggs

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole evenly.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Prepare Biscuits: Cut each biscuit into quarters or bite-sized pieces for layering.
  4. Layer Ingredients: In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread half of the biscuit pieces evenly on the bottom. Add half of the cooked sausage over the biscuits, then pour half of the gravy over the sausage. Repeat the layers with the remaining biscuits, sausage, and gravy.
  5. Mix Eggs: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  6. Pour Egg Mixture: Evenly pour the egg mixture over the layered biscuits, sausage, and gravy. Gently press down to help the eggs soak in.
  7. Bake: Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the casserole is golden and bubbly.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm for a delicious breakfast or brunch.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, use spicy sausage or add red pepper flakes to the egg mixture.
  • You can substitute homemade biscuits or use store-bought buttermilk biscuits.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
