For the Berry Butter Board

  • ½ cup marionberry compound butter (prepared above)
  • ½ cup salted butter, softened
  • 1216 toasted slices of French baguette or bread of choice
  • 4 tablespoons marionberry jam (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
  • ½ cup pistachios, roasted & salted
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Handful of chamomile or other edible flowers

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marionberry Compound Butter: Allow the salted butter to reach room temperature. Using a hand mixer, gradually blend in the marionberry jam until the mixture is smooth and well combined, creating the marionberry compound butter.
  2. Arrange Butter Petals: On your serving board, place curved rows of plain salted butter petals. Next, create a row of marionberry compound butter petals slightly overlapping the previous row. Continue alternating rows until the board is filled, creating a beautiful layered butter display.
  3. Add Jam Dallops: Place small dollops of marionberry jam in the crevices between the butter petals for bursts of sweetness throughout the board.
  4. Decorate with Toppings: Sprinkle the butter petals with roasted salted pistachios, chopped fresh mint, and chamomile or other edible flowers. Scatter fresh blackberries evenly across the board and drizzle honey over the assembly to taste.
  5. Add Lemon Zest and Bread: Zest one lemon directly over the butter board to add fresh citrus aroma and flavor. Line the board edges with toasted slices of French baguette or your preferred bread.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Use a butter knife to scoop the flavored butters and toppings onto the toasted bread slices and enjoy this elegant, flavorful spread.

Notes

  • Use softened butter at room temperature for easier mixing and spreading.
  • Fresh berries and edible flowers add both flavor and visual appeal—choose seasonal fruits for variation.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with a vegan alternative and verify jam ingredients.
  • To toast bread slices, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  • This board is perfect for brunch, parties, or as an appetizer for gatherings.
